Twin County Family Care of Independence Welcomes Providers

Independence, Virginia - Twin County Family Care Center of Independence is pleased to welcome two providers:  Julie B. Sprinkle, FNP-C and Janet H. Garvey, FNP-C.

Julie B. Sprinkle, FNP-C will see patients at the Twin County Family Care Center of Independence four days per week.  Most recently, she practiced, in a neighboring community, Sparta, North Carolina.  She looks forward to sharing her family care and women’s health experience with her patients and their families.

Sprinkle earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Radford University. She has been certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2003.  Sprinkle is also DOT certified.

Janet H. Garvey, FNP-C will see patients at Twin County Family Care Center of Independence on Wednesdays. She also currently serves patients at Twin County Urgent Care in Galax.  Most recently, she practiced at Twin County Pediatrics. She looks forward to sharing her family care and pediatric experience with her patients and their families. 

Garvey earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina-Columbia.  She has been certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 1989.  She has served on the Twin County Regional Healthcare medical staff since September 2007.

Sprinkle and Garvey join John J. Kovacich, MD, FACP in serving patients at Twin County Family Care Center of Independence.

Dr. Kovacich joined the Twin County Regional Healthcare medical staff in January 1985 and Independence Family Care Center as an internal medicine physician in February 2013.    

He is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine.  He completed his residency at Emory University affiliated hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia.  He has been board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1979.  He was awarded the distinction of Fellowship by the American College of Physicians (FACP).
