Recently, Twin County Regional Healthcare (TCRH) hospital employees and community partners gathered to celebrate “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
Sudandra Ratnasamy, CEO of Twin County Regional Healthcare welcomed those in attendance and stated, “Our primary goal is to continue to provide every patient in this community with the highest quality of care. We all know that our quality of life improves when we have basic health care that is accessible to those in our communities and patient safety is at the forefront of what we do to care for each of our patients. I am proud to say that our hospital is 1 of 40 hospitals in the state of Virginia to achieve an A.”
William “Bill” Alley, chief nursing officer of Twin County Regional Healthcare explained Leapfrog and why it matters to the patients, their families, and the community. Alley recognized many of the key players who strive each day to make sure the patient outcomes are the best possible, reducing errors, accidents, injuries, infections as well as systems the hospital has in place to prevent harm to the patient.
Dr. Jamie Carlo-Demovich, chief of staff at TCRH and Dr. David Ritchie, member of the TCRH board of directors also congratulated the hospital on the award and their unwavering commitment to daily habits of best practices ensuring high quality of care. “The bar has been set,” said Dr. David Ritchie. “I challenge you now to continue the best practices that has gotten us here. It takes a team effort. Our professional responsibilities need to be shouldered and shared by everyone at our hospital at every opportunity. It is a privilege to be a part of such a wonder team in such a great community.”
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) attended the celebration and applauded the hospital on their achievement and thanked them for taking care of the people in their service area and surrounding communities that need care. “I celebrate Twin County Hospital for receiving an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group for their hospital safety,” said U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA). “The health system’s employees, doctors, nurses and staff are to be commended for their contributions to the health and well-being of their community.”
